Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, a small model designed for cost-sensitive, high-throughput applications, featuring a 1 million token context window priced at just $0.10 per million input tokens. This positions it as one of the most affordable long-context models available from a top-tier lab. The 1M context window makes it practical for document-scale reasoning, codebase ingestion, and multi-turn agent tasks that previously required more expensive models. Developers building cost-constrained pipelines or needing to process large corpora cheaply now have a compelling new option in the Claude family. Separately, Anthropic also slashed Claude Sonnet 5.5 cache-read costs by 50%, further reducing operational expenses for teams already using prompt caching.
